Kibos Rehabilitation Centre
The Trust has established a rehabilitation centre for street
children in the village of Kibos, located about 6 kilometres
from the City Centre.
In 2003 we purchased 2 ½ acres of land, on which we
have established a centre, a garden, clean water and play areas,
a recently erected toilet and shower block and a community church.
The centre is run by Moses and his wife Tatu, who have built
wonderful, parental relationships with the children.
Children that we have established a relationship with on the
streets of Kisumu are invited to join the rehabilitation program.
On arrival, they have clean clothes, food and beds. They are
provided with counselling and support, remedial education in
order that they can re-enter school and most of all, they find
people who care about them and that they can learn to trust.
We have had over 40 children come through the rehabilitation
program so far and, although there have been the inevitable
sadnesses, most have embraced the opportunity to turn around
their lives and are doing well in schools or in learning trades.
"Your
prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering
before God" Acts 10:5
